espec\u00edficos dentro do espectro da radia\u00e7\u00e3o terrestre emitida pela superf\u00edcie da Terra, a pr\u00f3pria atmosfera e pelas nuvens. Esta propriedade causa o efeito de estufa. O vapor de \u00e1gua (H2O), di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2), \u00f3xido nitroso (N2O), metano (CH4) e ozono (O3) s\u00e3o os principais gases de efeito de estufa da atmosfera da Terra. Al\u00e9m disso, h\u00e1 uma s\u00e9rie de gases de efeito estufa inteiramente produzidos pelo homem da atmosfera, como os halocarbonos e outras subst\u00e2ncias que cont\u00eam cloro e bromo, tratadas de acordo com o Protocolo de Montreal.
